What Does Discovery Mean? To me the word “discovery” means that you are learning something new. My picture is about someone who found a light bulb in 1957. “It’s interesting,” she said. “What is it?” And she pulls it, and it lights up. This is what my picture is about, and this is what discovery means to me.

Crusie Arcade Game -Research Paper: LAX Ball Identify the Problem How can we, as Caine has inspired, demonstrate through teamwork our imagination, determination, and passion for creativity and innovation, with our own arcade constructions? Explore What Makes an Effective Professional Arcade Game? JUMP is a great and wonderful professional arcade game to play. The name of the company that supports the game site is Camadro, Inc. This is how you play the game. There is a pixelated guy who tries to defeat all of the levels. Use the arrow keys to move around the guy and the spacebar to jump without getting defeated by the blue squidward. The rules are displayed right after you press the start button. I would give JUMP a rating of 3 and a half out of a rating of 4 stars. The pixelated man shoots the monster with snowballs. You just go to the next level when you win the game. You would need cardboard, scissors, glue, tape, string, and a big box to just create/build the game. It would cost about $100 to buy. To build it would cost about $200.If you would like to play this Game the URL address is: http://www.freearcade.com/Jump.flash/Jump.html. Design Brief What is the Concept Design of My Crusie Arcade Game? In the Discovery Center we are making an arcade game called LAX Ball; I think it is very fun! How you play the game is you have to throw the ball to get it in one of the slots, and it is a little tricky. When we present our game we will tell you how to play at the beginning so you will understand a little bit more, and you will not forget, and the directions are going to be displayed on the game. If I had to rate this game on difficultly out of 4 stars I would give it 4 out of 4 stars because it is pretty hard. It is hard because it takes luck to get the ball in one of the slots. You win the game if you get the ball in the slots, and we have big prizes and small prizes. We also have a jackpot, the jackpot is the smallest slot, and it is very hard to get. That is why it is called the jackpot. When you win the game you win a prize; how many you get depends on how many shots you make.
Our design shows a table with holes in it, and each hole has a different value. You use tennis balls to shoot into the holes. We have a sign at the top of our game telling you the names and the value of each hole. We will give you tickets to get prizes. Our game is in the shape of a square, and it has four legs. We are going to design the legs as lacrosse sticks, and we will decorate the game so it will look like a professional game.
We will need cardboard for a base, balloons for decoration, prizes for if you make any shots, popsicles sticks for support for the legs, tape to put things together, markers to decorate, and duct tape for decoration. It will take about 7 days to build our game, as partners. For our base to be more stable, we need to be consistent. We need to decorate our game so it looks presentable, and for people to play it and have fun!

Praise: It looks wonderful; the design fits with the game. The game is very solid; think that it would last through many players before it showed signs of wear. I enjoyed playing the game.
Question: Do you think its skill or luck? Are you giving away prizes too easily?
Polish: Fix the sign on the back to make it match.
Student Comment: We tried very hard to design Lax Ball and make it solid, hoping people would enjoy it. We thought everyone would like it the way it is. Usually it would take either knowledge or luck. I think it takes luck more since you do not need a lot of knowledge. I do not think we are giving prizes away too easily.
Examiner: Mrs. Russell
Date: 2/4/13
Praise: Great design, like the labels for each hole, ref, goalie, and etc.
Question: no question.
Polish: Amazing how you have a more graceful slope.
Student Comment: Thanks, I appreciate your comments about the slope and the design of our game, Lax Ball. I have to give some credit to Mr. May and Quinn because while I was gone they did some awesome work.
Examiner: Mrs. Witter
Date: 1/28/13
Praise: I like how well you planned the structure needed for the game and changed elements that did not work.
Question: Could you have added the qualifications needed for receiving a prize in your rules rather than orally? What would happen to your game if the balls could drop through the circles?
Polish: No polish.
Student Comment: We wanted our game, Lax Ball, to stay steady. Yes, we could have added qualifications. Well, it would be a lot easier if balls could drop through the circles because you really do not have to throw it that hard after all.

Make It Better How Can We Make the Crusie Arcade Game Better? Well maybe more stable or maybe there where too many decorations.
Reflection on Project
What can we do to improve our Arcade Creation?
We could have explained the rules better.
Specifically, how would we do this?
We will put the points to match the “hole” numbers.
Reflection on Process
What did you learn to do with the Crusie Arcade Project?
I learned to make a stable game.
What do you know now that you did not know before doing the Project?
I learned to make a stable game.
What can you do now that you could not before doing this project?
I learned to make a stable game.
What did you like about the project that helped your learning?
Well, I learned how to make a stable game.
What could have been done differently to help your learning?
I could have helped a little more. So others did not have to do all the work. A Final Reflection: To improve our game, Lax Ball, we could have explained the rules a little better to the people playing our game, by reading all the rules to them. Another improvement is to make the points match the “hole” numbers. I learned and now know how to make a stable arcade game. To help my learning I wanted to help a little more but I was out sick. Quinn had to do a lot of the work. We came up with the idea of Lax Ball because we thought of pinball, and we both like lacrosse. Presentation of Crusie Arcade Games - Gaming Week:
